How many locations do you have?
Our store at Preston Royal Village in Dallas is Dougherty’s flagship store where we have been located since 1967. In 2011, Dougherty’s opened its first new store in the lobby of the Forest Park Medical Center in Dallas. In 2014, Dougherty’s acquired a compounding pharmacy in Humble, Texas, a suburb of Houston. January 2015 Dougherty’s Pharmacy's acquired McCrory's Pharmacy in El Paso. Our most recent acquisition is Medicine Shoppe in McAlester, OK.
Do you offer compounding at Dougherty’s?
Yes. In our non-sterile labs we prepare creams, lozenges, oral suspensions, flavorings, customized capsules, and other custom medications for both humans and pets. Our sterile labs can compound injections, suppositories, rapid dissolve tablets, eye drops, irrigation solutions, and more.
Do you deliver prescriptions?
Yes, Dougherty's delivers prescriptions to your home for a nominal delivery charge. We also deliver to many of the area's assisted living communities. Additionally, we can deliver home medical equipment, over-the-counter medications, and consumer health and beauty products.
Can I get my pet's prescription filled at Dougherty’s?
Yes. Dougherty’s fills a wide variety of compounded medications for pets and animals of all kinds, including residents at the Dallas Zoo. We can even flavor your pet's oral medications to make medicine time a bit easier.
Can you flavor my child's liquid medication?
Absolutely! For a small fee we can add a variety of flavors to help the medicine go down easy.
Can you deliver my mother’s medication to her at her assisted living community in Plano?
We'll be glad to deliver her medication to her. Our pharmacy provides vaccination services and free delivery to many assisted living communities throughout the DFW area.
Are your drug prices more expensive than other pharmacies?
If you're paying with prescription drug insurance, your co-pay at Dougherty’s will be the same amount as any other pharmacy. However, Dougherty’s does not offer the deep discounts for generic drugs like some chain pharmacies.
Can I refill my prescriptions online?
Absolutely. You can refill your prescriptions online using the website or with our mobile app available for Android and iOS in their respective app stores.
Do you accept most insurance carriers for prescriptions?
We accept all the major brands of insurance as well as government, military, and Medicare. It is rare to find an insurance carrier that we don't accept.
Can I rent a wheelchair from you?
Yes, you can rent a wheelchair (standard or transport), crutches, even a walker (2-wheel folding walkers only) from our Home Medical Equipment Department. For details and pricing contact the HME department online, by phone, or visit our store. Please allow at least 45 minutes for us to clean/sterilize all rental equipment.
Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?
We accept Medicare and Medicaid for prescription drugs. We will bill Medicare for medical equipment, but we don't take assignment on the claim.
Can I get vaccinations for my children at Dougherty’s?
We only offer vaccinations for adults and children age 16 or older.
Do you compound bio-identical hormones?
With a prescription from your physician, we can prepare a bio-identical hormone therapy preparation for you in our non-sterile lab.
I'm traveling to Asia soon. Can I get the vaccinations I need at your store?
Yes. The required vaccination for travel to Asia is the yellow fever vaccine. We are an approved provider for administering this vaccine.
My doctor told me to buy compression socks. Do you carry them at Dougherty’s?
We have an extensive assortment of Jobst and Medi brand compression socks for both men and women. In addition, we carry the CEP Sports Compression line of socks for fitness and athletics.
I’ve heard I can get the flu and shingles vaccinations at your store. Is that true?
Yes; Dougherty’s offers the flu and flu mist vaccination each year as well as the Zostavax vaccine for shingles. Just ask one of our pharmacists for more information on either one.
What kind of nutrition supplements does Dougherty’s offer?
Dougherty’s offers the highest quality, pharmaceutical grade vitamins and nutrition supplements. Our expert staff and registered dietitian can help select the most appropriate products based on your unique needs. Our Forest Park Medical Center location specializes in nutrition supplements for customers who have completed bariatric surgery for weight loss.
Do I need an appointment to meet with your registered dietitian?
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are recommended. To set up a meeting with our RD call or contact her through the website. She is available for appointments on weekdays and can answer minor questions by phone and email.
Do I need an appointment to consult with your certified diabetes educator?
Drop by our Health and Wellness section to meet the diabetes educator for a brief consult. For a personal, comprehensive consult we recommend scheduling an appointment. Our diabetes educator is available weekdays at the Preston Royal Village location. She can also answer limited questions by phone or email.
Can your registered dietitian help me with meal planning for children and youth in my family and address their nutrition needs?
Yes; as a registered dietitian, Anjani can prescribe meal plans for the children, youth, and adults in your family. She will help you plan an individualized therapeutic diet that is customized for a specific person in your family who may be managing chronic conditions like diabetes, celiac disease, etc.
Do you carry therapeutic shoes for people with diabetes or other foot problems? If so does Medicare cover them?
Yes, we carry an attractive selection of custom fit shoes for people with diabetes, neuropathy, and other foot difficulties. Original Medicare (Traditional Medicare) may cover 80% of the cost of 1 pair of shoes and 3 pairs of heat molded insoles per calendar year; a diagnosis of diabetes is required per Medicare. Medicare also requires detailed and specific documentation from your physician for this coverage. Customers wishing to file a Medicare claim or buy the shoes must make an appointment to be measured and fitted. Please send us an email for more information.
