Andy Komuves, RPh, FIACP

PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Andy Komuves is President and CEO of Dougherty’s Pharmacies in Dallas, Texas, one of the top ten largest independently owned and operated pharmacies in the United States.  In this role, he brings over 20 years of extensive pharmacy management expertise to lead the gspd-rowth and development of this venerable Dallas institution. 

Born and raised in New Jersey, Andy moved to Texas where he attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. He graduated from TCU with a Bachelor of Science degree and a teaching certificate in the composite sciences. After four years teaching chemistry and oceanography in Houston, he pursued his passion for chemistry even further by enrolling in pharmacy school at the University of Houston where he received his pharmacy degree.

During the course of his professional career, he has held a number of leadership positions including those with Horizon Pharmacies, where he was Pharmacist-in-Charge, Pharmacy Manager, Regional Manager, Director of Operations, and Chief Information Officer. Horizon owned and operated 52 pharmacies in 38 states.

Recently, Andy was recognized as a Fellow of the distinguished International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists. This is a rare accomplishment as Andy is one of only 12 Fellows in the state of Texas and one of fewer than one hundred in the United States.

Andy is a member of the National Community Pharmacist’s Association, the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists and a member of Cardinal Health’s Regional and National Retail Advisory Boards.

Mark Heil, CPA

PRESIDENT DOUGHERTY'S HOLDINGS & CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Mark Heil has served Dougherty’s as Chief Financial Officer since 2007. In 2012, Mark was appointed President of Dougherty’s Holdings, the parent company of Dougherty’s Pharmacy and serves on the Board of Directors of Dougherty’s Holdings.
 
Mark has significant experience in various executive positions, including chief financial officer and chief operating officer.  In addition, he developed consulting expertise in the executive services field. Prior to joining Dougherty’s, Mark served as a consulting associate at Tatum LLC, which provides financial consulting and executive services. Before that, he held the position of chief financial officer at full-service advertising company The Loomis Agency, as well as at American Excelsior Company, a manufacturing and distribution firm.
 
In addition, Mark served as chief operating officer of American Excelsior Company’s Earth Science Division and served on the firm’s board of directors. He began his career in the audit division of KPMG. Mark graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the Financial Executive Institute.

Danna Sesler

MANAGER CONSUMER HEALTH & MERCHANDISE PLANNING

Danna Sesler brings more than a decade of experience in retail ownership and business management to Dougherty’s Pharmacy. She joined the Dougherty’s team in 2009 as Gifts and Beauty Products manager.

Before signing on with Dougherty’s, Danna owned and managed two successful gift shops in Dallas. These included The Collection in Lake Highlands and The Tiecoon in Preston Center, which was featured multiple times in local and statewide media. Danna earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from Texas Woman’s University.

Ken Wilson

MANAGER HOME MEDICAL EQUIPMENT

Ken Wilson boasts 35 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with the last 17 of those at Dougherty’s Pharmacy. Ken oversees all aspects of the home medical equipment department, including product selection, inventory control, employee training, Medicare accreditation and compliance, and gspd-rowing the business.

Alisa Vitorino

DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

As Director of Business Development, Alisa is responsible for sales in the Long Term Care, Home Care, and other pharmacy services. Prior to joining Dougherty's, Alisa spent her time volunteering and speaking on behalf of numerous charitable organizations, including Special Olympics, Challenge Air, and the fight against illiteracy.  Alisa graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in marketing from the University of North Texas.

Robert Ferguson, CPhT

MANAGER INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Robert Ferguson brings more than 30 years of Information Technology experience to Dougherty’s Pharmacy, as well as 14 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician. Prior to working at Dougherty’s, Robert attended 2 years of internship at Ziff Davis Laboratories in Palo Alto California, working for publications such as PC World and Mac World. Robert specialized in computer sciences at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

Robert's exceptional problem solving skills, deductive reasoning and unsurpassed commitment to excellence prove to be an invaluable asset for Dougherty’s.

Windie Bridger, PHR

MANAGER HUMAN RESOURCES

Windie is an accomplished human resources professional with fifteen years of experience developing and directing human resource initiatives across large business groups and small entrepreneurial startups. She received her certification from the State of Texas Mediation Training program and has provided expert coaching to senior management on topics related to leadership, compensation, diversity, team building, organization design, and adapting personal style and management techniques. Dougherty’s is privileged to have Windie’s innate ability to build and foster productive relationships across all levels of our organization.

Anjani Upponi, RD, LD, CDE

MANAGER DIABETES MANAGEMENT & DIETARY EDUCATION

Anjani Upponi, Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator, with over 20 years of experience, joined Dougherty’s Pharmacy in August 2011 to start and lead the diabetes education program as part of the company’s consumer Health and Wellness initiative. Anjani has a sincere passion for making a difference in the lives of people with diabetes and other chronic conditions and is committed to empowering you to be an active partner in your own health care.
 
After graduating from the University of Bombay, India with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Anjani received her Registered Dietitian designation after graduating from Grantham College, Grantham PA and completing her dietetic internship at York Hospital, York PA. She specialized in diabetes education while training at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Hamot, Erie, PA.

Simon Keen, CPhT

MANAGER PHARMACY INVENTORY

Simon Keen has been a Dougherty’s Pharmacy team member for over 19 years. Within that time he has held several different positions including OTC Buyer, Pharmacy Technician and Assistant Store Manager along with becoming a Certified Pharmacy Technician in 2000 and graduating from Brookhaven College with an Associates of Science degree in 2010.
 
As the Pharmacy Inventory Manager, Simon has seen how the pharmacy industry has grown and changed with so many new generics and growth in the industry and looks forward to even more changes and challenges in the future. Finding and having the medicines our customers need is very fulfilling and makes all of the effort worthwhile. When Simon isn’t working, he spends time with his family and friends.

Chris McElfresh, CPhT

MANAGER STERILE & NON-STERILE COMPOUNDING LABS

As the Manager of the Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding Labs, Chris manages a team that prepare customized medications in every form for patients, animals (from domestic to exotic), and for in-office use by physicians.  Chris is responsible for ensuring the operation of both labs is compliant with or exceed the requirements of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, U. S. Pharmacopeia, OSHA, EPA, as well as the requirements of other states where Dougherty’s does business.  
 
Since joining Dougherty’s as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Chris has been responsible for the continuous quality improvement within the compounding department. A highly goal driven individual, Chris enjoys a rigorous daily weight-lifting regimen and learning more about the positive benefits of nutrition.

Nita Moore

MANAGER, ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE

Nita oversees and directs all aspects of billing reconciliation for Dougherty’s individual, corporate and third party accounts.  A seasoned administrative professional, she brings nearly twenty five years of experience with many leading corporations.  Nita’s rich and diverse background in customer service, accounting, and fixed asset management is the foundation of her ability to provide excellent service to our valued customers.

Allison Low, CPhT

SUPERVISOR, PHARMACY

Allison manages a team of fifteen to twenty pharmacy technicians and clerks. In addition to supervising the daily operations in the pharmacy, Allison trains new technicians. She continually strives to improve quality and efficiency in her department.

 
Over ten years of experience have given Allison the skills necessary to solve in-depth insurance problems and help patients navigate complicated prescription plans to get their medications covered. Allison also oversees the audits performed by insurance companies from the initial audit request through the appeals process when necessary.
 
Allison joined Dougherty's Pharmacy in 2009 as a certified pharmacy technician. She previously worked as a technician for Eckerd, CVS, and Kroger.
